Plates from the North of France

We have selected various different plate manufacturers from the North of France in this monthıs exhibition of large painted plates specific to two regions: Picardy and Lille. All of the plates shown are from the XVIII century.
We would like to give you a vision of the taste of the French people who lived in and enjoyed the North of France. The influence Flanders, the Dutch and Belgian neighbors of this region, is evident in the texture, pattern and colors of these plates. Picardy and Lille manufacturers were the two important models of ceramic fashion of the time.
Please enjoy our selection and keep in mind that these little manufacturers did not produce large numbers of pieces and therefore our pieces are quite rare in their condition and availability.
